High-Voltage fast-charging Efficient electric vehicle Powertrains


As the push for climate neutrality and sustainable transportation intensifies, the demand for efficient electric vehicles (EVs) is on the rise.

The EU-funded HiVEP project is dedicated to advancing high-voltage powertrain technologies for mass-market C-segment vehicles. The project focuses on developing powertrain architectures operating above 800 volts, integrating ultra-efficient power electronics, advanced silicon carbide (SiC) semiconductors, and rare-earth-free electric machines.
Key innovations include high-energy-density batteries with a 3.6 C-rate, enhanced thermal management systems, and a goal to reduce charging times to under 10 minutes. These advancements aim to reduce energy consumption by 25%, increase driving range by 20%, and lower powertrain costs by up to 20% at mass production levels.
