2Zero - toward zero-emission vehicles
The 2Zero partnership drives collaborative research and innovation in road transport across the European Research Area. It identifies strategic research priorities that support EU transport, energy, and environmental goals.
By doing so, it helps pave the way towards a climate-neutral road transport system and accelerates the transition to sustainable mobility.
Aligned with the European Green Deal, 2Zero contributes to building a modern, resource-efficient, and competitive economy. It also supports the Sustainable and Smart Mobility Strategy, which outlines the European Commission’s roadmap for the coming years.
Beyond its core mission of achieving zero tailpipe emissions, 2Zero promotes economic growth, job creation, and enhanced EU competitiveness. It reinforces Europe’s leadership in transport technologies and innovation.
The E-VOLVE project cluster
The acronym E-VOLVE stands for Electric Vehicle Optimized for Life, Value and Efficiency. It was launched in 2018 with the first wave of projects from the H2020 work programme call related to the European Green Vehicle Initiative (EGVI), the predecessor of the 2Zero partnership.
The E-VOLVE Cluster aims to maximize impact by aligning and connecting complementary R&I activities, as encouraged by the European Commission. Member projects have joined forces to demonstrate the added value of collaboration and synergy.
Together, they form a virtual cluster focused on delivering innovations across a broad range of electric vehicle (EV) components.
These innovations are tailored for the next generation of EVs, addressing future mobility needs in both urban and inter-city contexts.
They also meet key market demands for energy efficiency, usability, and cost-effectiveness.
The Cluster concentrates on integrated component development to enhance energy efficiency, enable fast charging, and extend driving range, ensuring readiness for the evolving requirements of electric mobility.
